Chris Plant: Social media in education today

Statistics say that 63% of teenage internet users go online everyday  and 73% of teenagers are on a social network. With such a massive use of the Internet and social networking sites by young people; teachers, educators and parents have to be aware of benefits and risks of this trend. Social Media can enrich education by improving communication between students and teachers, allowing more interactive learning and contacts and exchange with educators all over the world. On the other hand, PERMANENCE of social media requires the importance of proper education for children and increased awareness and competency of the adults to avoid misuse and to replace with a good social media practice.
